Just Kidding.
Here's Another
Batch.

Six months after delivery. Same car. Same Batman. Same badge. Different story.

On March 6, 2026, Mahindra announced the return of the BE6 Batman Edition. The press release was titled: "Fans Asked, Mahindra Listened."

Let us examine who was actually listening — and when.

The Timeline Nobody Showed You

August 2025
999 owners buy the car
Based on FAQ stating "Only 999 units will be produced." ₹1,00,000 non-refundable deposit paid within 8 days. Deliveries begin September 20, 2025 — International Batman Day.
November 2025
BE6 Formula E Edition launched — and flops
Mahindra launches a different limited edition — the Formula E Edition. Unlike the Batman Edition which sold 999 units in 135 seconds, the Formula E Edition does not generate comparable commercial success.
January 29, 2026
"Bring Batman Back" petition starts
A fan petition requesting a new Batman Edition is created by buyers who missed the 135-second booking window. This petition — not spontaneous fan enthusiasm — becomes the cited justification for the relaunch.
March 5, 2026
Mahindra announces relaunch — 35 days after petition
Mahindra announces the return of the BE6 Batman Edition. The original 999 owners are not notified privately before the public announcement. They find out the same way everyone else does — in the news.
March 6, 2026
Owners respond. Mahindra PR goes silent — same day.
Original 999 owners start a counter-petition. They post publicly. They tag leadership. Mahindra's communications team, which was actively promoting the relaunch, goes completely silent on PR — on the exact same day owner backlash begins. Silence is a choice.
March 7, 2026
Collective legal notice served
Advocate Nischal KM files a collective legal notice on behalf of 40+ original owners, citing Consumer Protection Act 2019 violations. The notice is served to Mahindra.
March 9, 2026 — Night
"Founding Edition" is born. Two days after legal notice.
Mahindra issues a new press note. For the first time in the history of this product, the term "Founding Edition" appears. Also for the first time, the August 21, 2025 "may introduce more models" clause is highlighted as the legal basis for the relaunch. Neither term existed in any communication sent to owners at the time of purchase. Both appeared exactly 48 hours after receiving legal notice.
March 10, 2026
Bookings open anyway. One day. No pause.
Bookings open at 11am for one day. Deliveries promised April 10, 2026. No response to owner concerns. No acknowledgment of the legal notice publicly.
March 11, 2026
Legal reply received from one of India's top law firms
A 10-page reply arrives. Their entire defense rests on the "may introduce more models" clause from August 21, 2025 — and the "Founding Edition" term created on March 9. Both invented after the legal notice. See Chapter 3 for the full translation.

What The 2026 Car Actually Is

Mahindra's legal reply claims there are "clear distinctions" between the 2025 and 2026 vehicles. Here is a complete side-by-side of the distinctions they claim versus what is visible on the road.

The "Fans Asked We Listened" Problem

The March 6, 2026 press release is titled "Fans Asked, Mahindra Listened." The fan petition requesting the relaunch was started on January 29, 2026 — 35 days before the announcement.

This means one of two things:

A

Pre-planned All Along

Mahindra was already planning the relaunch before January 29. The petition gave them convenient public cover. "Fans asked" was a marketing narrative, not a business driver.

B

Commercially Motivated

The Formula E Edition's commercial underperformance created a revenue gap. The Batman Edition — proven to sell 999 units in 135 seconds — was the obvious solution. The petition was the justification, not the reason.

Either way — the original 999 owners who were told they had the only ones ever made were not part of "the fans" being listened to.

"The original 999 owners will always remain the founding owners of this story."

— Mahindra, March 2026 press release.

They invented the story of founding owners after the founding owners complained about the story being changed.
